Lighthouse is comprised of professionals that have a wide-range of experience working together in complex and challenging real estate cycles. Their track record covers the spectrum of real estate projects from stand-alone infill to residential merchant/guest builder to large developer master planned communities. Since its inception in 2000, the co-founders have guided and situated Lighthouse as a niche, highly specialized real estate development and investment company.
Ken Cablay - Ken is co-founder and principal of Lighthouse Ventures and has been a prominent executive in the Southern California real estate development industry for over thirty years. Working along side co-founder Gregg Linhoff, Ken contributed to the design, development and sale of over $50 million in real estate over the past eight years.
Prior to the formation of Lighthouse, Ken served as President of Standard Pacific Homes, San Diego Division, and spearheaded a dramatic expansion of the division that placed it among the most active builders in the County. Having acquired property and managed the planning, development and construction of nearly 3,700 homes in more than 20 neighborhoods in the capacity of Vice President of Acquisition and Development, as President Ken restructured the division into a regional powerhouse, increasing home deliveries by over 300% in his first year at the helm as President while creating a portfolio of over $150 million in land for development. Under Ken’s leadership, Standard Pacific Homes San Diego was recognized by industry peers as the Outstanding Building Team in 1998 for San Diego County.
In addition to Standard Pacific Homes, Ken was a key executive with The Baldwin Company where he played a strategic role in the acquisition of Otay Ranch, at that time the largest raw land real estate transaction in San Diego County. Serving as Vice President of Acquisition and Development for the San Diego Division, Ken played an integral role in the massive due diligence effort and served as a representative of the investor relations committee on behalf of The Baldwin Company.
At the start of his career Ken gained experience in both the private and public sector of civil engineering, serving for a time as project engineer/project manager for a large engineering consulting company as well as Subdivision Engineer for the cities of Oceanside, Poway, and Santee. His last public role was City Engineer for the City of Santee. Ken is past director of the San Diego BIA and served on numerous boards and committees.
Ken earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and completed graduate studies in Master of Business Administration program from San Diego State University. He is a registered civil engineer and a licensed general contractor in the State of California.
Gregg Linhoff - Gregg has been active in the Southern California real estate development industry since 1982. Gregg has extensive experience acquiring land, planning and developing an array of project types including mixed-use, professional office, condominium and detached residential homes. During his career, Gregg has managed the development of approximately 3,000 homes in more than 30 neighborhoods.
Prior to co-founding Lighthouse Ventures, LLC and Lighthouse Builders, Inc. with Ken Cablay, Gregg held the position of Vice President, Acquisition and Development with Standard Pacific Homes, San Diego Division. During his tenure at Standard Pacific, Gregg worked directly with President Ken Cablay to acquire over $150 million in land for development. Gregg also had full responsibility for all project management activities, overseeing planning, entitlement and development of company projects. During his three-year term at Standard Pacific, the division delivered over 1,000 homes and gained an inventory of over 1,000 additional lots.
Prior to joining Standard Pacific Homes, Gregg served a combined ten-years in land acquisition and project management positions with The McMillin Companies, Kaufman and Broad Home Corporation and Gfeller Development, handling activity throughout San Diego, Riverside and Orange Counties. Gregg began his real estate career as a research associate with Peyton Reed and Company, a real estate market research firm serving the building industry. He completed over 100 market feasibility studies for residential, commercial and industrial development projects throughout California, Arizona and Minnesota while employed with Peyton Reed.
Gregg graduated from University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and completed substantial additional coursework in architectural design. He is licensed as a Real Estate Broker and has held a Class B General Contractor license in the State of California.
